OVERVIEW
Fast food service has origins dating back to A&W and McDonald’s. Since then, fast food service has evolved with three elements that have carried on: low cost, fast, efficient service. These elements are increasingly emphasized as food service moves forward. That is why AMV, Inc. filters all decisions through two pillars: cost limitation and ultimate efficiency.
Over the last 6 years, with the evolution of robotics technology, costs have dropped substantially. These cost reductions allow startup robotics companies to enter the competitive landscape without prohibitive levels of seed capital.
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the timeline for robotically operated systems to be accepted by the public. The public demands reliable sanitation and virtually no risk of contamination. Food service establishments have shifted to automation, wherever possible, due to these growing trends. Consumers want their food service fast, fresh, and autonomous.

AMV, Inc. is in ideal position to capitalize on the rapidly progressing shift to automation.

THE PROBLEM
Need for Innovative Solutions

RISING REAL ESTATE COST
Restaurants require brick-and-mortar commercial real estate. The cost and complexity of which limits the transferability of the restaurant to other locations, impeding scalability. Due to real estate cost, restaurants implicitly large overhead. The cost associated with commercial real estate has risen dramatically over just the last decade. Increasing the barriers to entry from new food service providers.

RISING LABOR COST
The cost of food service labor is expensive. Beyond the salaries or hourly wages paid, restauranteurs face the ancillary expense of providing benefits and insurances. This is without the potential added expense of employee legal action against a company. The cost of labor, particularly low wage manual labor, has risen to a point where businesses are opting for automation anywhere possible. The labor expense facing restauranteurs has substantially increased overhead, and driven down profits. This trend accelerates year by year.

COVID-19
COVID-19 has reshaped the way American’s live. More than 70% of restaurants went out of business due to COVID-19. The pandemic has exposed a serious obstacle to the function of the US economy. No longer is it safe to interact frivolously with each other. Food service is a major problem area, as it requires intensive human-to-human interaction. Food, plates, cups and utensils all must be handled by humans. Due to the manual nature of restaurants, many struggle to keep their doors open.

LACK OF AND INCONSISTENCY OF WORKFORCE
Restaurant workers are hard to come by - particularly the low wage end of the labor market. This is a primary pain point for food service providers. Pair the lack of people to do the jobs with the inconsistent quality of performance inherent to human labor, and the need for a more efficient, consistent solution dictates itself.
